Classroom Discussion, March 26th – Voice of Prep

Classroom Discussion, March 26th

As Prep/A, we discuss a topic through Google Classroom every day. Today’s task is to find a song that you relate with the current situation of the world and the pandemic or the future after it.

Durrin:

Don’t stand so close to me
by The Police

Don’t stand so close to me
Loose talk in the classroom
To hurt they try and try
It’s no use…

I selected this song because its name suits this situation we are in and that we should stand 6 feet away from other people when we are in the public. I liked the part about the classroom too as we were discussing the news and our opinions during interactive lessons and I know that sometimes we were talking at the same time 😅. Oh and about the hurt part, I just associate it with the fake news we keep hearing but in my opinion “it’s no use” as the truth always comes through…

Toprak:

CCR – Fortunate Son
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no millionaire’s son, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no fortunate one, no

We are lucky because we can stay at home, we can afford our needs but homeless people are still outside. we are fortunate ones they are not.

Arda:

WAKE ME UP by Avicii

So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn’t know I was lost

I’m sure this difficult situation will end and I hope this will happen soon.

Başar:

See You Again by Charlie Puth&Wiz Khalifa

It’s been a long day without you my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again

I can relate to these lines when I think about my situation with my friends in Istanbul. We still talk via social media but of course, it’s not the same.

Nehir:

Billie Ellish – ilomilo

Told you not to worry
But maybe that’s a lie
Honey, what’s your hurry?
Won’t you stay inside?

I think this part of the song suits our situation because when the coronavirus first came to Turkey, everyone underestimated it, but now I think everybody understood the seriousness of the situation and started to warn people that they should stay home.

Elif Özgün:

Nothing can be explained-Mike Wyzgowski

Lost on the way, no one to blame, no one to save,
Nothing to do with the way everything’s changed
Lost, confused, a lot of it, is hard to take, and cause of it,
Everything’s changed

The lyrics of this songs, are not matching the situation that we are in but these sentences remind me of the fear of death, the fear of losing someone. That’s a feeling that I get time to time because of the pandemic.
